Our History

HistoryRogers Petroleum was first established in 1980 by Don Rogers. Mr. Rogers, originally from New Jersey, began his career in the oil and gas industry as an employee of Exxon®. After several years with Exxon, Don saw the opportunity to purchase an ExxonMobil® distribution business directly from Exxon with hope for future expansion. Since 1980, Rogers Petroleum has grown into the leading petroleum wholesale distributor within the Southeastern market. Rogers Petroleum primarily distributes petroleum-related products including gasoline, diesel fuels, lubricants, and oils.

Acquisition of BV Oil

BV OilIn 2016 Rogers Petroleum purchased a portion of the BV Oil Company in Arcadia and Wauchula Florida acquiring their fuel, fleet card and petroleum products distribution business which included two bulk plants and one fleet fueling site. Rogers Petroleum is looking forward in growing with these customers and to provide the best service available to the business community. This acquisition as well as actively searching others like it will help Rogers expand its footprint in the southeast region.

Green Initiatives

East Tennessee Clean Fuels CoalitionRogers Petroleum is proud to be a partner with the East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition. Founded in 2002, the East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition is a nonprofit organization aimed to reduce regional and national oil dependency, improve overall air quality in East Tennessee, and help boost Tennessee’s economy. Community education is the main driving force behind these goals. The East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition’s educational programs focus on community businesses and K-12 educational programs. These programs emphasize the importance of using alternative fuels for everyday use. The main alternative fuels used in East Tennessee are biodiesel, electricity, ethanol, natural gas and propane. However, the most effective alternative fuels in East Tennessee are biodiesel and ethanol.

The East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition holds quarterly meetings throughout East Tennessee to continue community outreach and education. Rogers Petroleum is a proud partner in the East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition’s efforts. In fact, our President, John Yeagar, is the current Treasurer of the East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition. Rogers Petroleum is dedicated to the environment and to growing our alternative fuels business.

Safety Protocol

Employee, customer, and community safety is our first priority here at Rogers Petroleum. We focus our resources every day on improving our commitment to safety. Each subsidiary of Rogers Petroleum has its own safety committee with a dedicated safety manager who conducts regular meetings to monitor and improve the safety procedures throughout the company. Within these meetings, safety training and practices are continually reinforced among all employees. In addition, Rogers Petroleum and its subsidiary companies are completely drug-free. Each of our employees goes through certified hazardous material training upon entering the Rogers Petroleum family. In addition to these efforts, Rogers Petroleum has 9 certified HAZWOPER employees and an emergency response vehicle for fuel and oil spills. Together, these safety practices have provided our employees, customers, and the communities we serve with a higher degree of safety.
